Lacey Renea Read Gamma Chapter of Theta Alpha at UNF

Hi everyone! This is my first semester at UNF, and in the beginning of the year I was looking forward to possibly joining a sorority. A few of my friends at FSU and UF are in a Christian sorority and I was very disappointed when I found out that one was not offered at UNF. I recently came across Theta Alpha's website and saw that there is a chapter at UNF, it's just inactive this semester due to low membership. I got in touch with the president of the Theta Alpha sorority and she gave me some ad… Continue

Nick Baker Story of true forgiveness and the power of God

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/113008/met_361819515.shtml This article was front page in the newspaper today, it is an amazing story for one but it means so much more to me because it is about my dad and family. If you have not read it, in 1984 my Aunt Vera was killed by her jealous ex-husband, James. James went to prison after confessing, and my dad was filled with anger virtually putting him in a prison as well. I am sure any of you can imagine how angry my dad was at the man w… Continue

Howell Ruehl How to Give Thanks at Thanksgiving

Step1 Give thanks to God, our creator and savior. For he is the one that gives us the blessings we have in our lives. Without Him, we are nothing. Step2 Appreciate the food you are eating and the person or people who prepared it for you. They undoubtedly put a lot of work into the meal. Step3 Think about all the things you've learned this year and thus far in your life. Step4 Look at the people around you and be thankful that you are not spending Thanksgiving alone. Step5 Be grateful for you… Continue

Kyle Lane Cause '09

Many of you who attended Access last night are pondering the cause that they will give themselves to in 2009. Surely, Derrick is already asking if you know. Many causes deal with the remedy of specific social injustices (i.e. human trafficking, poverty, etc.). This will take a lot of research for you to choose; giving your life to a cause is no easy task, and I'm certainly having some difficulty. Don't forget about some of the Human Rights organizations that have associated themselves with A218.… Continue

JT Hedman Could have been worse....

So, I don't know how many of you know, but after Wesley Tour at JU Tuesday night, Jaymie and I were in a pretty bad accident. We're ok - just some bumps and bruises. My poor, beautiful truck was considered totaled. We were in our neighborhood, and a car ran a stop sign. Somehow, the truck was on its side for a while, but ended up back on the wheels, almost in the woods. Here are some pics: The front end-

Mark Drye What does it mean to be a man of God? Part I

Something that has been weighing on my heart these past few weeks is the wonder at what it means to be a man of God. Many of my friends have asked the same question and I find myself somewhat lacking in my ability to respond. If you were to ask me if I knew any godly men I would undoubtedly say yes, however if you were to ask my why I thought they were godly I would have difficulty explaining my reasons. This has challenged me to not only gain wisdom and understanding as to what it means, but m… Continue

Jane Marchand Faries Ever wonder?

Do you ever wonder why God chooses you to do things? I do. I think, “I’m so unqualified for this, isn’t there someone else, someone more believable than me, someone with a better track record? What on earth are You thinking to choose me for this?!" I have come to realize that this isn’t a test of ability but a test of obedience. I know I don’t have the ability. So many times it’s not my strength or ability but what God can do in this situation. Face it Faith is HARD, it’s completely blind…that’… Continue

Kelsey Linduff Haiti:: Action what is in your hand.

Saturday Night I sat outside Starbucks drinking a Hazelnut Hot Chocolate (you need to try one... its amazing.) and talking with a friend about how we could solve the problems of the world. We don't want to be complacent when we hear about a need. We don't want to be desensitized to the brokenness in people's lives. We don't want to be okay with living as if our lives matter most. And so we think and dream and strategize. We get frustrated because we don't know all the answers and we laugh at som… Continue

Carolyn R. Jones Counting my blessings and Praising God even in the midst of a hard times

Yesterday was my Birthday and I am very blessed to have reached another milestone. But this morning marked another milestone my car was stolen. I have had my car for two years and I have come to realize through the Crown financial class, that it wasn't my car after all it's God's. So God please return the car to me that you so graciously allow me to use. All praises to God the father for he has protected the true treasures my family and friends from hurt and harm. Amen Continue

Jane Marchand Faries Sleep

I don't sleep a lot. Sleep is like another world to me. I live another life there. I'm stronger but it's much more than this world. Still I can handle what I confront there only because of my strength in Christ. So what is it like for those who don't have Christ? Probably really scary. My concern is for those who sleep much, even when they are awake let alone what they go through when they sleep. What strength do they draw upon? How good can it be? Let's find those people and give them the only… Continue

JT Hedman Are you kidding me?!

For a reason I have yet to determine, my mind has lately been returning to the topic of protesters "for God." You know the ones - they hold signs that say things like "TURN OR BURN!" and "GOD HATES FAGS!" And I guess what strikes me as odd is they claim to be doing these things in Jesus' name. They claim to be Christians who love God, saying that they are enlightening people and helping to turn them to the Truth of the Gospel. And it breaks my heart. They stand there with their signs and call… Continue
