Our Perspective

NAME
ACCESS218 comes from Ephesians 2:18: For through him [Jesus] we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. The verse before (2:17) explains that 'both' are two groups: those who have been doing the walk of faith for awhile, and those who are brand new to the concept of faith. ACCESS218 is a place where those who have been following Christ for more than a month and those who are still figuring the Jesus-thing out can come together as one community and meet God in Christ as one.

IDENTITY
ACCESS218 is currently a community of college students and young adults based out of the college/young adult ministry (also called ACCESS218) of CrossRoad Church UMC. This community is made up of 18 – twentysomethings in Northeast Florida including students from University of North Florida and Florida Community College of Jacksonville.

PURPOSE
ACCESS218 seeks to inspire college students and young adults in Northeast Florida and beyond to become followers of Jesus Christ.

ASPIRATION
The vision of ACCESS218 is to see college students and young adults living today in God's reality, learning in community what it means to be a Christ-follower, and preparing to be future leaders in the cause of Christ and His Church for the transformation of the world.

PATHWAY
The purpose is fulfilled and the aspiration becomes reality by encouraging college students and young adults to embrace the new life in Jesus Christ, commit to the new way of living as a Christ-follower, engage in the new community of believers and live for the new cause which is the kingdom of God here on earth.

STATUS
In August 2008, ACCESS218 plans to plant a new community and gathering for students on the Jacksonville University campus. The start of a JU Community is the beginning of a renewed mission to reach Northeast Florida college students and young adults by planting communities and relevant gatherings through the area.

ACCESS218 is more so a community than a ministry. We are college students and young adults who want to find purpose, meaning, truth, freedom and all that life has to offer. We are finding all of that good stuff in Jesus Christ, the life He offers, and the movement He started. He is changing us from the inside out, and showing us how to bring hope and healing to the rest of the world. Wanna join us...there's always room for one more!
